LOA – Advogados Associados, is a multi-disciplinary Mozambican law firm headquartered in Maputo. It strives to provide bespoke quality legal services, which combine local knowledge with international best practice. The Managing Partner, Mr. Leopoldo de Amaral, is a seasoned lawyer with high knowledge in its key commercial practice areas, having started his legal career in 1999.

Mr. de Amaral boast more than two decades of legal practice in South Africa and Mozambique to clients which include many multinational and national corporations, including leading power, mining and oil and gas companies as well as other foreign investors, international banks and many diplomatic missions and international NGOs.

As a leading extractive industry legal expert, Mr. de Amaral was instrumental in the drafting and enactment of the 2014 Petroleum and Mining Laws in Mozambique and the respective regulations representing the industry. He has provided inputs on the 2020 initiated reform of the PPP Law and the maritime transportation legislation and on the ever ongoing local content bill which initiated in 2015.

Although Mr. de Amaral is particularly recognized for his activity in the field of energy and natural resources, his expertise covers the full range of legal disciplines including corporate, commercial, banking, employment, immigration and international law.
